Date: April 27, 2005

PRESENT: Vic Newhard,  Robert Burke, Alan Stein,  David Cantrill, Lynette Friberg, Nancy Stephens,  Dale Hawkinson, Loita Hawkinson.

BUSINESS ITEMS:

1.  Bob Neir’s book will be delivered tomorrow, April 28th, 2005.  We will need help putting them away.

2.  Bob Neir will do a book signing at Park Place Books on May 6th, 2005, from 7-9 p.m.  And then again at the Kirkland Library on May 14th, 2005.

3.  We agreed to provide up to $250.00 for refreshments at the Park Place Books signing on May 6.  Bob Burke moved and the amount was approved.

4.  The Kirkland Centennial calendars are now 70% off.

5.  Lynette, our new Membership Chair, has made many phone calls and people are confused about the mid year dues.  We agreed that we need to change the membership year to make it from January to December.  We will give new members the option to pay ½ year or 1 ½ year until we are all caught up.  We had originally thought the mid year dues would be easier for people.  But since that time we have received our non profit status and now people can take their membership as a tax deduction.  There was also talk about people then giving a membership as a gift for the holidays.

6.  We are donating two framed photos to the Kirkland Chamber auction.  David has several photos he thinks would be nice for the auction once we have two frames and mats.

7.  The next City Hall display will be on the Ship Yards.

8.  Heritage Hall will be open the end of August 2005 to the first of September 2005 for a total of three weeks.  We may have the exhibit up.

9.  The Seattle Times will have an August 2005 pullout section on the Kirkland Centennial.

10.  We are going to pay Matt McCauley for three months of Blackberry Preserves.  Matt had paid for these three issues in 2003 with his personal credit card not realizing that Kirkland Heritage has an account at Kinkos.   We needed receipts to make payment to Matt.  Matt no longer had the receipts once he realized there was a problem with the payment.  It has been well over a year now and we still owe Matt for those three months.  We resolved the issue by having Kinkos give us a figure that would be the total for the three issues.  We have copies of these  issues so we know the number of pages and we have the mailing list.  The board agreed to pay Matt that amount, hoping it covers all his Blackberry Preserve expenses.   Nancy will pay Matt as soon as she has the exact figure.
