Peter Kirk & the Foundry Nite

Presented by Loita Hawkinson KHS Achieves and History.  A detailed chronological account of Peter Kirk coming to the Northwest in search of a location for a steel mill.  The research is from primary sources from newspapers and other media in the 1890's . A  detailed PowerPoint presentation included early speculation of the plant being located near Cle Elum Washington with early hand written documents  in the KHS archives between the Northern Pacific Rail Road.  The original town platting was modeled after the Pullman IL factory town.  The original Kirkland foundry site was near the current Kirkland Post Office but the plant was built on Rose Hill..
