CENTENNIAL

1905 - 2005

 MEMORIES TO SHARE AT

KIRKLAND HERITAGE DAYS

MAY 15TH AND 16TH, 2004

11:00 AM TO 3:00 PM

HERITAGE HALL, 203 Market Street

100 YEARS OF KIRKLAND HISTORY

Help us identify the landmark events for each decade - particularly during WWII to the present!

THIS IS THE FIRST STEP IN PREPARING FOR

KIRKLAND 'S CENTENNIAL IN 2005!

WE NEED YOUR HELP TO MAKE IT A SUCCESS!

A Centennial Committee chaired by Mayor Mary-Alyce Burleigh is working on a citywide celebration of Kirkland 's incorporation.  It will begin next year in February with Founder's Week / Peter Kirk's birthday.  It will have even more spectacular 4th of July picnics, parade and fireworks!  It will end with a grand gala in October.  There will be neighborhood and downtown events throughout the year!

We are preparing a Centennial Calendar for 2005 that will be distributed to all households at the end of this year - thus we need photographs and materials now to make it more interesting.  We also need to start the exhibits that will be installed in the Kirkland Arts Center and City Hall and the new Kirkland illustrated timeline history.

HOW CAN YOU HELP?

Tell us what are the most important happenings!

Do you have photographs?  Documents?  Memorabilia?

Who are people we should be interviewing?

Photographs:  Check your Family Albums!  Slides or Movies?  We will copy them and return them to you - or you can donate them!

Documents:  Postcards, Programs of Events (school, sports), year books, maps, posters, articles, etc.

Memorabilia:  Those political pins, unique pencils, yardsticks, souvenirs, patches that remind us of a Kirkland store or event!

*  If you didn't attend and have items, please call Kirkland Heritage Society - 827-3446 and we'll arrange to get together!  .  Thanks!
